CLASS LEVELS:
*Our Levels begin at age 8 (or by invitation by an instructor/studio director). Ages are a guideline, not a firm rule. Exceptions may be made, per instructor/director approval.
*(i) indicates a dancer who has been in that level for roughly 1 year, is at a beg/int level within the level and is typically on the younger side of the age range.
**(a) indicates a dancer who has been in that level for roughly 2-3 years, is at an int/adv level within the level and is typically a bit older.
**Current students please refer to your Season 11 Evaluations for Season 12 level placement.**
Level 1 (8+)
Level 1 is for the absolute beginner with little to no previous dance experience or for a returning dancer that needs a bit more time in that level for refinement/foundational purposes.
Level 2i (8+)
Level 2a (10+)
Level 2 is typically for someone with less than 2 years consecutive experience in a particular style.
Level 3i (10+)
Level 3a (10+)
Level 3 is for someone with 2+ years consecutive experience within the same style at an intermediate level.
Level 4 (13+)
Level 4 is for someone with 4+ years consecutive advance dance training in a particular style.
Unlike a typical school-setting, students may remain in a level for a few years OR may be moved into a more advanced level prior to the set age-guidelines.
We do our best to find the BEST class fit for your child. We would much rather promote a child when they are ready to advance, than have to demote them after they’ve been added to an inappropriate class level, before they are ready. This process can take some time (especially if you’re new to SMAC or your dancer falls between levels). We thank you for your patience while we determine which class level is most appropriate for your dancer.
***If you are new or unsure which level to enroll your child in or have any questions, please feel free to call (253) 924-9977 or email us: info@smactac.com Our experts are happy to help you find the best class for your child. Thank you!
Note: Classes, Dates and Times are subject to change/cancellation. **A current signed registration form/waiver will be required before starting a new dance season. **Space is limited in each class to provide a safe and healthy experience as well as the highest level of instruction possible for each child. Sign your kiddo up quickly, before classes fill up!
